Adolescence (ages 12-18) is a transitional period and turning point from childhood to adulthood for individuals. During this time, adolescents seek to establish their identities and roles through social and environmental interactions. They explore aspects such as their own personalities, future dreams, life goals, and may emulate idols, others' behaviours, or trends in fashion, culture, and ideas in hopes of achieving their ideal selves.

However, can self-identification truly be achieved through external imitation? Not necessarily as some individuals experience role confusion, leading to inner conflict, sensitivity, overthinking, restlessness, and even anxiety or depression.

Today, with the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), which reshapes future prospects and opportunities, accelerating the already unpredictable changes in life, the process of achieving ideals becomes even more complex for adolescents, leaving them more lost.

Many existing people, things, and professions may soon become history in the near future!

Learning to use AI makes it less of a maze for teenagers.

How can teenagers navigate this AI maze filled with unknowns? Instead of worrying, you can start using AI now, experiencing it, and mastering it:

  1. Utilize AI educational tools and platforms to open new possibilities for learning.
Intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning platforms, and virtual assistants can provide personalized learning experiences tailored to the needs and learning styles of each teenager. For instance, you can use AI to create notes, texts, images, music, audio, and videos. You can also engage with generative AI for tasks such as chatting, software code assistance, and scientific research. Generative AI supported by large-scale artificial intelligence models can perform various tasks out of the box, including summarization, question answering, and classification. This can enhance student engagement and academic performance, preparing teenagers for the future.

  2. Avoiding Plagiarism
While Generative AI can enhance learning and work efficiency, viewing it as a shortcut for blindly copying can raise ethical concerns. This not only impacts academic performance but also undermines the development of skills needed for future job markets.

  3. Ethical Use of Data
How does AI collect and analyse vast amounts of personal data? This raises concerns about privacy and data security. Teenagers need to understand these issues and ensure they adopt responsible and ethical practices. Establishing AI ethics and digital citizenship awareness from now on is crucial!

  4. Understanding AI's Impact on the Job Market
AI's continuous development in fields like machine learning, data science, robotics, and AI development creates new job opportunities for teenagers. From less conspicuous technical professions in the past to highly specialized fields like medicine, AI empowers teenagers to innovate and make their professions future-proof. Therefore, teenagers must understand AI when choosing subjects and pursuing further education, cultivating skills that complement AI technologies.

  5. Developing Critical Thinking, Creativity, Emotional Intelligence, and Problem-Solving Skills
In an AI-dominated world, soft skills like critical thinking, creativity, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving are crucial for teenagers' future careers. They need to start developing these growth-oriented mindsets now!

  6. Creativity, Emotional Intelligence, and Problem-Solving Skills
On social media platforms, AI-driven algorithms plan content, recommend friends, and personalize ads based on user preferences and behaviours. While this can enhance user experience, it can also create filter bubbles, reinforce biases, and impact mental health. It is essential for teenagers to become critical consumers and establish healthy relationships with social media to mitigate potential negative effects. Community education and collaboration between parents and schools should promote media literacy in a fair, rational, and innovative manner.

AI has a profound impact on teenagers, bringing both excitement and unique challenges.

Let's embrace the potential of AI, benefit from learning experiences, explore new paths, and become proactive contributors to the future. This approach not only addresses ethical issues and manages social media influences but also prepares us for dynamic market trends!

Let's navigate opportunities and challenges, maximize the benefits of AI, and build a successful future for ourselves!
