Activity Description
A one-day aLife Child Living Etiquette Programme was held on the 22nd December 2018.
Taking the first step
There are always unexpected challenges in life that we need to face through. Throughout the programme, the children were able to take the first step to step out of their comfort zone, in learning new skills, such as cooking and washing clothes with hands, and overcoming their fear, such as transferring breadworms with their hands. From being tense and nervous, the students gradually gained confidence and courage in mastering the challenges.
Teamwork and Mannerism
“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”. Team leaders were able to delegate the tasks and help to guide younger teammates, whereas the teammates cooperate well in order to accomplish the assigned task, such as searching for ingredients to cook their meal. Their team effort does not only stop among their own team, but also spread out to other teams and teachers. When other teams are facing difficulties, the children were able to provide a helping hand, so that everyone could succeed in the task. Mannerism and respect were not forgotten through reinforcement of the values among the teams, to greet and to speak gently with one another in all the things they do.
Conclusion
The efforts and emotions that they have been through are just a small part of their life journey. Nonetheless, we hope that the values and lessons that they learned, and the memories that they have made, will continue to make an impact in their life journey.
