A three-day, two-night camp titled 'a Life Experiential Enrichment Camp' was held from May 28th to 30th, 2017, at Hulu Langat. The objective of this camp is to inspire children to establish harmonious relationship with the nature by cultivating the children’s heart of gratitude to the natural environment.
Hulu Langat is a beautiful district filled with natural attractions which one of the famous is the Sungai Congkak waterfall. During the jungle trekking journey up to the Sungai Congkak waterfall, children had the chances to admire the beauty of the jungle with tall rainforest trees all around and they were mesmerized by the natural sounds of birds, crickets and others natural creatures filling the air could hardly experience in the city lifestyle.
Although the trekking journey up to the waterfall was challenging and adventurous, it was worth the trip when seeing the beautiful waterfall cascading down when reached the top of the jungle. The children’s awareness about the importance to protect our natural environment was also enhanced when they had make fire using the natural resources such as wooden stick from the jungle.
Before ended our three days camp closely being close to the nature, the children seized the opportunity to experience the Malays’ kampung games which children got to know more about the beauty of Malay’s culture. In fact, children’s relationship with each other were tighten on the final day when they worked together regardless the competition among the groups to achieve one ultimate goal which is also one of the beauty in Malays’ tradition – kampung spirit . The three days ended happily and adventurous, which the children went back with the heart of reluctance.
