Adversity quotient may be an abstract and broad concept for most parents to understand. Nevertheless, career adaptability will be the focus topic to be discussed during a child's adolescence stage.
Four dimensions of adaptability were highlighted as showing concern, control, curiosity and confidence towards future career. These four dimensions are closely linked to teenager's perception towards life and their adaptability. According to this scheme, adaptive individual is conceptualized as becoming concerned about their future, and their current stage of life. Besides, adaptive individual will be increasing personal control over their future, expecting certain amount of freedom and the right of choice. In addition, curiosity will be displayed through the exploration of possible selves and future scenarios. Lastly, confidence will be strengthened to pursue one's aspirations.
