Qian Ling's MumInterviewee’s Thoughts

Through my neighbor’s recommendation, I decided to enroll my daughter into A Zon Educare Advisory. My daughter, Qian Ling, is 12 years old, and has been attending A Zon’s classes for 5 years now since 2009. She has participated in various programs here in A Zon, such as a Life Child Living Etiquette Programme (CL), a Life Child & Teen Fun Club, and a Life Child & Teen Enrichment Camp. Qian Ling is the only child at home, and thus has been rather pampered. She tends to fight with other kids after some time of playing, or would show signs of resistance and impatience when asked to look after younger children or the elderly.

However, after attending A Zon Educare Advisory, I feel that she has cultivated a sense of empathy, gratitude, and also independence. Through the programs, especially the Enrichment Camp, she had the opportunity to lead and to look after younger members, which in turn reflected her ability to care for younger friends or children. There was once when she had to visit the Old Folks Home during Chinese New Year. After that visit, she initiated to take care of her grandmother at home and also showed less resistance towards the caring of elderly. Besides, she also showed a greater ability in taking care of herself.

Qian Ling is in standard 6 and is facing school exams and additional tuitions. The stress and time limitation in the beginning had exhausted her and led to her incompletion of homework. I then reminded her to apply the skills learnt from A Zon into her everyday life. With a gentle reminder, she started making arrangements for her daily activities and schedules. Now, she has a timetable of her own, which she has got used to and is less stressful. As for the parents, Qian Ling is also exhibiting more care towards us. She used to stall during bedtime, but now, she reminds us of our bedtime instead. Whenever her father or I watch television programs after work, she would say that we should go for a rest after a long day of hard work. I feel that all these behaviors reflect her improvements in caring for others.

Thank you for the hard work and care the teachers in A Zon have given to the children. I hope that there will be more teachers like them, so that the children will benefit even more.

A word to the parents:

The society is like a dye pot, and we cannot stop it from being complicated. We can only prepare our child to stand clean in this society, to teach them the ability to tell right from wrong, white from black. To cultivate them to be a loving and caring future pillars of our nation!
