A Life & Love Series 《A Cup of Love in Summer》

PUCHONG: Life Educare Foundation, in collaboration with other partners, organized the first charity event titled 'A Life & Love Series: A Cup of Love in Summer' at Rumah Charis Children Home on July 23, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The aim of this visitation is to cultivate grateful heart in children by spreading love to the children through performing activities together such as games and cooking competition.

While we arrived, Rumah Charis children have been awaiting four our arrival and welcomed us warmly. All children started the games sections excitedly after teacher briefed them about the activities that we were going to do together. After the game section, all the children begun to discuss in their group diligently about the dishes that they want to cook and present to all the children and judges. They also allocated the tasks to all group members accordingly.

“Friendship comes before competition”. Although it was a competition, children still work along together and showed teamwork during the preparation and cooking process with the intention to cook dishes that contain the love, warmth and affection for the Rumah Charis’s children to feel our care to them.

After the cooking section, we had the judges to taste and rate on each group’s cooking based on the cooking’s criteria of “Appearance, Fragrance, Sanitation and hygienic, Flavor and Taste”. Each of the judges also gave their comments to each group on the strength and weakness of each dish to encourage them to not give up, and to put in more effort and try harder in the future. Next, the children had their lunch in a party mode with the background filled with summer music.

From this charity event, the children learnt about the importance of being gratitude and cherish all the things they have in their lives. When we are living in a family with love and care from parents, we must not forget there are unfortunate children out there who also looking forward in receiving warm and care from us. Therefore, we should always remind us to involve in good deed in order to spread the warmth to these children.
